As one of the oldest branches of engineering, civil engineering involves analyzing, designing, and constructing public and private projects by integrating scientific principles with engineering experience. The programmes from the department are offered to facilitate the planning, design, and construction of residential & commercial buildings, railways, airports, dams, environmental pollution control systems, water purification and distribution systems, and urban transportation systems that enhance the quality of life.
The curriculum:
. is designed to find solutions to the problems faced by society in a fast- changing world, as the students get an opportunity to work as interns in the industry gaining hands-on experience and making them industry ready.
. it provides for a choice-based credit system, allowing the student to accelerate the completion of his programme if so wishes to.
. includes skill-based and ability-enhancement courses both in undergraduate as well as post-graduate programmes.
. it also encourages students to pursue a Minor in AI & ML or Data Science or Honors in Construction Practices (in association with L&T Edu Tech) along with their B.Tech in Civil Engineering, which gives them an extra edge compared to their peers elsewhere.
. it gives students the theoretical background and professional attitude to serve the public.
. it typically leads to entry-level positions or to pursue post-graduation in technical specialties like environmental, geotechnical, structural, and traffic transportation engineering.
